This past weekend we had the pleasure of taking our first vacation as a family of three! It's been a long time coming and it wasn't to anywhere too far away, but we had a great time! We all piled into the car on Friday and drove to San Antonio. We stopped in Shiner, TX on the way to tour the Spoetzel Brewery. What a fun tour! I wouldn't necessarily make it a destination but as a stop along the way, it was perfect! Plus, the tour is free and you each get 4 samples of different Shiner beers at the end to taste. Aliceson isn't much of a beer drinker so Kyle did most of the sampling. After we left Shiner, we headed to Luling where we had our first Buccee's experience (complete with beaver nuggets - YUM) and then drove over to the Luling City Market for some of the best BBQ we have ever had! It was so good we even made a detour on our way home and ate there for lunch again. It's nothing anywhere close to fancy and we highly recommend stopping before you get there to use the restroom (theirs are yuck) but the ribs, brisket, and sausage are AWESOME!
We made our way to San Antonio and had the privilege of celebrating a friend's wedding on Friday night at a beautiful ranch in Castroville. We are so happy for you, Erin and Ilde! We wish you many years of happiness! The rest of the time we were there we just had a great time enjoying each other, visiting places like The Alamo and The Japanese Tea Gardens, finding new restaurants to try (including one that was on a favorite show of ours, "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives"), swimming, walking around the riverwalk, and trying not to get sunburned. We drove back home on Monday after stopping at Katy Mills Mall for some shopping time.
Here are some pictures from our trip:

Daddy's pointing out the ducks to Caleb. I think he's wondering why they're not bright yellow like all the ducks at our house that he plays with. :) |

We rode the train around Brackenridge Park and Caleb LOVED that! |
These next few pictures aren't of Caleb on our trip but just some of his favorite things lately.

Even though it's soooo unbearably hot, we try to get outside every day. This is one of Caleb's favorite activities: swinging!! |
That's all for now, folks. We hope you are enjoying your summer. Hugs to you from us!
