4 months!

Today our little Sammy is 4 months old!  What a sweet, handsome, happy (most of the time) little blessing he is to our family.  Samuel weighed in at 14 lb. 3.2 oz. today and is 25.5" long!  He had one shot today but only cried for a few seconds and then was smiling again (until Mommy had to put him in the carseat to leave).  The pediatrician said we can start pureed foods if we wish or wait until he's six months old.  This month Samuel has figured out how to roll over - BOTH WAYS!  He's not super fast yet but we know soon he won't stay where we put him for any amount of time.  He also has really started to grasp at toys and other things this month and likes to hold toys while playing on the floor or in his bouncy seat.  We have brought out the "bumbo" this month as well but, when we can actually get him to stop arching his back and stiffening his muscles all up, he still slouches over quite a bit so it's not a comfy seat just yet.  He's soo strong and prefers to stand (with assistance) rather than sitting or laying down.  Most days Samuel is taking 3 naps per day, each about an hour long, and sleeping at night from about 8:00-7:00, waking anywhere from 1-4 times.  He prefers to be swaddled tightly and still will not take a paci. Samuel nurses about 6x per day and has definitely hit that "distracted" phase where any noise or movement (real or imaginary) makes him unlatch and look around.  This is very frustrating for Mommy but, as they say, this too shall pass! 

Month 4 Favorites:

• Smiling and lauging
• cooing loudly
• playing with toys
• standing up
• rolling, is better at going from back to front
• looking in the mirror at himself
• bringing his hands together to suck on them
• sucking on his bottom lip

Month 4 Dislikes:

• carseat (although occasionally it's not as bad as it was)
• being scared, especially Caleb jumping out to say "boo"
• being put down
• 6:00 PM
• being held while sitting down
