It's finally here! The time of year when the weather gets cool enough to chase the mosquitoes away! As you can see, Caleb's sooooo excited it's cooler he's jumping for joy! This year, so far, has been very cold for a Texas winter. Kyle and I both love cold weather so we're always excited when the first cold fronts blow through. Already this winter we've even gotten to see some snow! What a treat! Now, some other areas of Houston got A LOT more than we did, their flakes were bigger, they had a ton of flakes, their snow hung around for hours, they had accumulation, and they got to build snowmen . . . but, I'm not bitter about it. All we got were some tiny little flakes that didn't stick and just made everything wet. In Kyle's words, we had "rain flakes". If you look really close, you can see snowflakes on Annie's back.
No, I mean look REALLLLY close! Ok, so they're there. Just take my word for it.
We did get a tiny bit of accumulation. That's it. Just those few flakes . . . pitiful.
Oh well, while we were getting our blizzard, I was inside baking these delicious cookies! I've never made gingerbread people before-- only the boring round gingerbread cookies. They were a mess to make but it sure was fun! I had even more fun decorating them! These were coming with me to a "Cookie Exchange Party" but, as you'll see very soon the reason why, I was not able to make it.
Well, with winter comes colds. Unfortunately, our little guy was the first one in the family to catch one. Seeing your child sick is so hard! I just wanted him to blow his nose but no matter how much I said, "BLOW", he just smiled. Maybe some day . . . Of course, the first cold of a person's life is a momentous occasion so I had to take a picture.
Yep, I have the snot nosed kid. Doesn't he just look miserable here? :o(
Being sick takes a lot out of a person, especially when you're a baby. Sometimes you're even too sleepy to take your finger out of your mouth before falling asleep!
Thankfully, he's feeling almost all better now and is back to his usual silly self. Here's a funny one where he's decided that sweet potatoes go better ON the mouth rather than IN the mouth!
We all know that with winter comes that wonderful holiday where we celebrate our Savior's birth. We are so anxious for Christmas to be here so we can have our first Christmas as a family of THREE together. What a blessing! Here are just a few pictures of some decorating that I finally finished.
Yes, I know there's no stocking for Caleb yet. We didn't forget but the shipping estimate says it will be here next week!
Well, that's all for now, folks. We hope that you all have a stress-free Christmas and New Year!
