Mom's new hobby

Sorry that the blog hasn't been updated in a couple of weeks.  For Christmas I was given a sewing machine.  I have been wanting one for a long time after seeing all of the cool things my friends have made with theirs.  I have never sewn anything before other than a button and have certainly never touched a sewing machine until about a week ago.  After some help from my mom, I got it threaded, figured out what a bobbin is for, and have made my first little projects.

Every beginner's project---a pillow.

Next, it's a reusable snack sack.  This has a velcro closure and can be used as a 'green' alternative to using and throwing away ziploc bags.  I plan to get some PUL and make more of these.

Lastly, I made my first bib!  This is Caleb's only bib with a pocket at the bottom to catch all the goodies his mouth doesn't.

I've been looking at some blogs online and seeing what others have made and have been inspired by what all I can make!  I'm excited to learn how to do more.  Know any good very easy beginner projects?  Send directions my way!!

  1. Girl! I, too, am super impressed! If you found that PUL, or probably if you are making the snack bags, I may be interested. I do sew, but I have not had time to do it in quite some time! Let me know!

    God Bless,
    Lyndi
