Wow, does time fly! Yesterday Caleb turned 5 months old! We celebrated today with a trip to the doctor's office for a weigh-in (16 pounds 12 ounces, by the way) and shots. I have finally figured out that I must have a bottle ready to go so that immediately after the shots there is something to take his mind off of the pain. With his last round of shots Caleb cried and cried and nothing I did would soothe him . . . no pacifier, no singing, no bouncing, no breast feeding, no rocking, no shaking (just kidding) . . . until the bottle came out. My guy is an impatient fellow so the fact that the bottle immediately drips in his mouth when his lips touch it pleases him and calms him down. Praise God I figured out that trick or else Kyle was going to be assigned to shot duty for the next 10 years or so!
Here are a few pictures to highlight some of our more recent events:
Caleb was playing so hard in his jumperoo he just fell asleep right there!
He fell asleep, but notice his right hand still holding on to the bee! His favorite part of the jumperoo!
So happy to be clean!
We had a very busy day and Caleb just couldn't last the extra 15 minutes until bed time. Daddy's arms make the most comfy bed ever!
Lookin' super cool after our walk. An old man out power walking stopped long enough to say hi and call Caleb "Mr. Hollywood".
He's not quite old enough for this yet but just for fun we decided to try out the sippy cup with a little bit of water in it after our walk. There wasn't much actual sipping going on, but it sure is fun to hold this thing!
"Ha ha, Mom and Dad! I found my thumb and guess what . . . I LIKE IT!"
Caleb loves to watch your mouth and eyes when you talk and he's really starting to respond to different expressions.
"These are my favorite toys!"
We haven't started Caleb with any solid foods yet but, according to the developmental charts, he's meeting all of the milestones he needs to in order to try it out. So, I have decided that avocado will be his first taste and I will make as much of his baby food homemade as I can. Here is my first attempt. Good thing avocado is easy! Cut, scoop, freeze! No cooking required!
Here's our first round of baby food, in the freezer! Let's hope we can get it back out of these trays when it's frozen! Stay tuned for pictures of this green goo all over Caleb's face, tummy, hair, bib, high chair, mommy, etc. . . . . .
Love your blog and your pictures of sweet Caleb! By the way, frozen baby food comes out GREAT from ice cube trays! Way to be so ahead of the game, momma! :)
